We believe worship is both personal and corporate. Worship is our response to who God is and what He has done, in spirit and in truth (John 4: 21-24). We get our idea of worship in the New Testament as the way we live our lives. This transcends church music on Sunday mornings and goes into our daily lives through what we say, in all that we do, at work, at home, at school, or wherever life takes us.
We believe at COC that singing is one way in which we worship God for who He is, what He has done, is doing, and is going to do. We see through scripture that God is constantly using music as a way to celebrate Himself. (1 Chronicles 15:16, Psalm 30:4, Psalm 33:2, Ephesians 5:19)
We believe also that music is a powerful tool in the communication of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. So we seek to sing truth, that is, songs that line up scripturally in depicting who Christ is, and declare the glory of God.
